I was a punk kid who just wanted to be creative.
I picked up the bass. Then guitar. Then started to write songs. Then after toiling in the Los Angeles DIY scene for a few years, quit music and turned to poetry. But poetry doesn’t pay the bills.
When I broke in as a copywriter, I didn’t expect that I’d fall in love with video. That took me on a ride, writing scripts and concepts that led to: shooting cars in Southern California, shooting a music store in Mexico City, shooting cafes and restaurants in Sydney (pictured at left). And one of my proudest moments – making a short documentary about three boys from Jersey with a childhood dream.
So this is my big motivation. To keep paying the bills by making stuff – making clients and stakeholders happy and raking in the clicks online. But I want do it while checking the ego at the door, and helping my team (and younger creatives) along the way. Because we all start somewhere.
